Suppose that when you buy a suit of clothes it comes with a free pair of shoes. Not YOUR size…just a standard size that comes with the suit. They could be too long, too narrow... You’d go out and buy some shoes that actually fit YOUR feet, wouldn’t you!

Usually when a student buys a brass instrument the most common size mouthpiece is included. And it may not fit the student. It might be too deep, too wide. If by chance it did fit you're lucky, and it probably doesn’t fit anymore because the student has been growing and getting stronger.

But where does a student go to find a mouthpiece that fits? The student’s band director may be a wonderful pianist, or an expert woodwind teacher, but may not know enough about mouthpieces to offer advice to the student for selecting a proper-fitting mouthpiece for brass instruments.

Music stores may or may not be much help. They may carry the dozen most common sizes that sell best, but, unlike with reeds, they rarely offer a full range of sizes to choose from.

WHY SHOULD A MOUTHPIECE BE FITTED?
We all have different size lips, different shaped jaws and teeth, and different levels of muscle development. We also play different kinds of music. A properly fitted mouthpiece can make playing your horn more efficient and more comfortable, with better intonation.

SOLUTION:
Have a professional mouthpiece fitter bring a full range of sample mouthpieces…from trumpet to tuba, made in logical, gradual increments…to your school, and have him help all the brass students find the correct mouthpiece that provides the best opportunity for the student’s success.

Our knowledgeable staff assists the student in selecting a mouthpiece that is not only comfortable, efficient, easier to play, and superior in quality, but also helps the player play in-tune. We provide this service at no charge to the school, and students are under no obligation to buy at any time.
