Biography

While serving as a graduate assistant at the Eastman School of Music, Robert G. Feller graduated in 1986, with a Master's Degree in Performance and Literature in Trumpet, receiving the coveted Performer's Certificate. He has been a member of the Rochester Philharmonic, Pasadena Symphony, Pasadena Chamber Orchestra, the Ontario Brass, the Nazareth Brass Quintet, the Long Beach Municipal Band, and played lead trumpet in hundreds of Civic Light Opera productions. Since 1972 he has been a trumpet performer in many of Disneyland's atmosphere groups including playing lead trumpet for the 1993 nationally acclaimed Symphonic Fantasy Tour. Mr. Feller was also the founder and director of the Professional Christian Wind Ensemble conducting numerous concerts in Southern California and served as the executive producer for Rejouissance, the ensemble's first CD. In the course of ten years, he traveled extensively with the Continental Brass and Singers, conducting or playing trumpet in more than 2000 concerts in over 30 countries Worldwide. Presently, Mr. Feller performs with, and is a founding member of a group called Gabriel Brass, a trumpet trio with a four-piece rhythm section, whose crowning achievement so far has been to represent the USA in North and South Korea as well as China. He has been principal trumpet in the California Wind Orchestra since 1986, and is a freelance musician and recitalist performing numerous concerts throughout Southern California each year.

Currently Mr. Feller is the Head of Winds and Percussion and the Coordinator of Music Education at the Biola University Conservatory of Music. He also conducts the Symphonic Winds, directs the Brass Ensemble, and coaches the Brass Quintet. In addition to teaching Advanced Instrumental Conducting, Brass Methods, Woodwind Methods, Instrumental Literature for Schools, Guided Research for Instrumental Literature and Pedagogy, he also teaches private trumpet lessons and coordinates other activities related to instrumental music. He is the conductor of the Pacific Brass Ensemble (Southern California's premier brass ensemble), a guest clinician for Disneyland's Magic Music Day's Excellence in Entertainment Workshops, and a much sought after Honor Band conductor, guest adjudicator, and seminar speaker presenting "Band Aids: Fixing All Those Annoying Habits Your Students Have Perfected By Replacing Them With Concepts That Lead To Better Musicianship".
